This time, the destination is RV Park ISUMI Glamping Resort & Spa SOLAS (1610-1 Shakadani, Isumi City, Chiba Prefecture), located in Isumi City, Chiba Prefecture.
From the Tokyo Bay Aqua-line, take the Aqua-linked road. Exit at the Ichihara Maizuru Interchange and drive for about 40 minutes on a public road. The drive is a bit long after getting off the toll road, but the scenery from the window of the car was somewhat nostalgic as it passed through mountain roads and slightly old townscapes.
Isumi Glamping Resort & Spa Solas will open in 2022 as a resort facility offering glamping, auto-camping, and camping. And to attract a wider range of users, the auto-camping area is now in operation as an RV park.
One feature is the high grade of facilities, such as separate toilets and showers for men and women, as it is part of a high-standard campground. There is also a large artificial hot spring bath and sauna (extra charge), which can be used many times until check-out once the fee is paid. In addition, staff members are on site 24 hours a day, so you can rest assured that you will be taken care of in case of any problems.
Another selling point is that the location is ideal for astronomical observation, as there are few lights in the vicinity of the facility, and bringing a telescope on a clear day will provide a fulfilling experience.
RV park plots are located next to the campground. The plots are available for 6 vehicles and are 3m wide and 11m long, making them easy to use even for large campers.
Each lot has a grass area the same size as the parking lot, where you can put up a tarp or set up a table. Campfires can be made in the grass area (fire sheet and fire pit required).
Fees start at 8,800 yen, depending on the location and day of the week. The price may seem a little higher than other facilities, but this facility has larger sites with grassy areas, and there are no fees for power supply, showers, or garbage disposal. Please consider these as included in the price.
The RV Park website allows visitors to check available lots and make reservations, but the process is somewhat irregular: only two lots are available for reservation on RV-Park.jp (condition of use: presentation of Kuruma Tabi Club Premium membership card), and the rest are reserved through the Isumi Grampian Resort & Spa Solas website.
Please note that same-day reservations are not accepted and must be made by 3:00 p.m. the day before. Check-in time is from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Check-out time is 10:00.
Next, let me introduce the facilities available to RV park visitors: a short distance away from the RV park is a building containing restrooms, showers, and a cooking area. Not only are the restrooms separated for men and women, but there are also two private rooms for men and four urinals. There was also an air conditioner in the restrooms.
The park also has one multipurpose restroom that is barrier-free and has a table for changing children’s diapers, a rarity in an RV park.
Free use of showers. Hours of use are from 6:30 to 9:00. After that, it is cleaning time, and the showers can be used from 1:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. when they resume. There are no regulations on the time of use, but as a rule of thumb, we suggest using the showers for 15 minutes at a time, sharing the use of the showers with others.
There is one booth for men and two for women. The doors to the booths can be locked from the inside, and although the changing area is not large, it is easy enough to use. There is also a shelf to put a change of clothes. However, no bath mats are provided, so it may be a good idea to bring extra old towels.
Shower booths are always equipped with shampoo and body soap, and shower heads are adjustable in height according to the height of the user. It comes with a bench, so it was easy to use.
Next is the washing area. There are six faucets in a side-by-side style with sinks. There are no detergents or sponges, so bring your own. There are two spaces to put washed dishes, so if there are many people using the kitchen, it would be better to bring a bag to put the washed dishes in. Incidentally, the water coming out of the faucet is labeled as drinking water, so it seems that it can be used for cooking as well as drinking.
