I stayed at MUJI BASE, a new MUJI hotel in Kiyomizu, Kyoto. A full introduction to all four types of rooms and the hotel’s services.

Large rooms for groups have been reconfigured. Four types of spacious guest rooms are available. Amenity Hotel Kyoto, a 10-minute walk from the main gate (Niomon Gate) of Kiyomizu-dera Temple, has been fully renovated, including guest rooms, while maintaining the exterior appearance of the hotel, which has been welcoming school excursion students and other group guests for over 40 years. About 90% of the 18 guest rooms use MUJI items. The hotel also incorporates interiors by “IDEY,” also developed by Ryohin Keikaku, and works by Kyoto-related artists to create a simple yet peaceful space. The hotel offers the following four types of rooms (all rates are per room per night and include hotel tax), with one child under six years old sleeping free with one adult. Double rooms (total of 6 rooms, capacity for 2 persons, starting from 20,200 yen): Ideal for solo travelers, with a queen bed in a compact space of approximately 18.3m2. Twin Room (1 room in total, capacity for 3 persons, from 31,600 yen) Approximately 24.5m2 room with a bunk bed and a day bed. Only one room is located on the second floor of the building, and has a unique structure with a wide window and a sense of openness. Twin room with bathtub (10 rooms in total, capacity for 3 persons, from 45,000 yen) The most standard type of room, approximately 29-31m2. The most standard type of room, with two single beds and a daybed, as well as a dining table and bathtub, is recommended for long-term stays and business use. This is the type the reporter stayed in this time. Family Room (one room in total, capacity for four persons, 62,799 yen and up) This is the only suite type available on the second floor of the building. The 53.3m2 room is divided into a living room and two bedrooms, each with two double beds (four beds in total). This type of room is ideal for parents and children of three generations or groups who want to spend a relaxing time in the same room.
