I have seen Skymark’s state-of-the-art Boeing 737-8! Bright and comfortable cabin with thin seats and power supply

Posted on June 28, 2026 by Editor in Chief

On May 25, Skymark Airlines unveiled its new Boeing 737-8 aircraft (registration code: JA738A) to the press. The first flight will be on the Haneda-Fukuoka route (flight SKY003) on May 28, the first time a Japanese airline has received and operated a 737-8 aircraft.

The 737-8 aircraft of the 737 MAX family is the state-of-the-art aircraft that will replace the current 737-800 aircraft, and the aircraft to be introduced by Skymark will have 177 seats, the same number of seats as the -800. The new 737-8 will be powered by CFM’s LEAP-1B engine, increasing its range from 5440 km to 6480 km and reducing fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 15%.

One obvious difference from the -800 is the winglets at the wingtips, which are bilaterally split into upper and lower sections to suppress air vortices, which contributes to fuel consumption reduction and maneuverability stability. In addition, the aft nacelle of the new CFM LEAP-1B engine is jagged like saw-tooths (chevron shape), which has the effect of suppressing noise into the cabin.

In fact, Manabu Motohashi, President and CEO, said that when he rode along on a familiarization flight, pilots repeatedly expressed surprise at the fuel efficiency and quietness of the aircraft.
