Hanshin Electric Railway has announced the interior design of its new Series 3000 express train to be introduced in the spring of 2027. The concept is “openness” and “comfortable and user-friendly space.
One of the major features of this service is that one of the six trains will be equipped with L/C seats, which can be converted to long seats or cross seats, for the first time in the company’s history. Details of the seat reservation service, including the operating sections and fares, will be announced at a later date.
In addition, the specifications of the general seating and interior space have been significantly renewed from the existing vehicles, and many innovations have been incorporated to enhance passenger comfort.
(1) Increased body width and length
The width and length of the car body have been increased compared to existing cars to provide a roomy aisle.
(2) Renewal of information provision facilities
A new LCD monitor for displaying advertisements will be installed on the top next to the entrance and exit. With this change, the existing hanging advertisements are expected to be discontinued.
(3) Expansion of through-roads between guest rooms
The connecting section between cars has a wider aisle width and uses large transparent glass to create a space with a clear view.
(4) Transparency of partitions next to seats
The partitions next to the seats are made of transparent glass to improve visibility and increase the openness of the entire vehicle.
(5) Seat specifications
Red-colored bucket seats are installed to match the main exterior color, “Re Vermilion,” and partitions and grip bars are provided in the middle of the five- and seven-seater seats to improve comfort when seated.
(6) New multi-space
New multi-space “Ikoikona” in each car except for cars with reserved seating.
The new “Ikoi Kona” is equipped with a waist pad that allows passengers to lean lightly against it, which is expected to reduce fatigue not only for passengers with strollers, suitcases, and other large luggage, but also for those who ride standing up.
