JAL’s fuel surcharge has doubled. Korea 3,000 yen → 6,500 yen, Hawaii 17,800 yen → 34,700 yen, North America and Europe 29,000 yen → 56,000 yen.

JAL will increase the applicable fuel surcharge for tickets issued between May 1 and June 30.

The two-month average Singapore kerosene market price for February-March was $146.99 per barrel. Multiplying this by the average exchange rate of 156.99 yen per dollar for the same period, the yen equivalent of the Singapore kerosene market price is 23,076 yen, and the fuel surcharge applicable to tickets issued from May to June is based on 23,000 yen. However, the surcharge will be reduced to 22,000 yen for tickets issued between May and June, in response to the government’s emergency drastic reduction measures.

In the previous announcement, the current fuel surcharge was applied to tickets issued from April to May, but due to “fuel market prices reaching much higher levels than expected,” the date of application has been changed for this announcement, and the surcharge has been moved up to tickets issued from May to June.

The previously announced prices were based on 13,000 yen, with Korea at 3,000 yen, Taiwan at 7,400 yen, Hawaii at 17,800 yen, and North America and Europe at 29,000 yen, etc. The prices announced today for tickets issued from May to June are approximately double those of those announced in the previous announcement.
