JAL, which has bases throughout Japan, has been continuously implementing regional revitalization initiatives (currently the “JAL Furusato Project”), and in August 2020 launched the “JAL Furusato Ambassadors,” cabin crew members selected through an in-house recruitment process who move to the area to promote initiatives in their respective regions. In December of the same year, JAL appointed “JAL Hometown Cheering Troops” who are involved in regional revitalization while serving on board. The aim is to develop products and solve regional issues for hometowns and other regions with which they have connections, utilizing the knowledge they have accumulated as flight attendants.
We spoke with Miyuki Izuto, a JAL Furusato Ambassador who is involved in promoting the charms of Higashi-Hiroshima City Saijo in Hiroshima.
–What can you tell us about your initiatives?
Hello, this is Miyuki Izuto, JAL Furusato Ambassador in charge of Hiroshima.
Having observed the attractions of various regions from a global perspective, as an immigrant flight attendant, I have been searching for the attractions of Hiroshima Prefecture and disseminating information about them.
This time I would like to introduce Saijo, Higashihiroshima City. During this trip, I really felt that Saijo has the potential to be comparable to a “world-class brewery.
Saijo is one of Japan’s three major brewing regions, along with Nada and Fushimi, and is easily accessible from the airport.
This is the perfect place for those who want to drink, as well as history, sweets, and gastronomy often.
