Senjuan Confectionery will open its first specialty store outside of Hokkaido, the Northman JR Tokyo Station Store, from April 24 to mid-September.
Hokkaido’s famous “Northman” is the main product of the company founded in 1921, and is a blend of Japanese and Western sweets that combines more than 500 layers of buttery pie crust with red bean paste made from Hokkaido azuki beans.
In addition to the standard Northman (1,100 yen for 5 pieces, 1,750 yen for 8 pieces, room temperature), the Northman JR Tokyo Station Store, which will be located inside the Yaesu Central Exit ticket gate, will offer the “Fresh Northman” (1,280 yen for 4 pieces, refrigeration required) with fresh cream for a rich, moist taste and the “Fresh Northman Chocolate” (1,580 yen for 4 pieces, refrigeration required) with smooth, melt-in-your-mouth chocolate bean paste and chocolate fresh cream. The lineup also includes “Nama Northman Chocolate” (1,580 yen for 4 pieces, refrigeration required), which is made with melt-in-your-mouth chocolate red bean paste and chocolate whipped cream.
The company will also release a new product, “Nama Northman Green Tea” (1,580 yen for 4 pieces, refrigeration required), which is made with bittersweet green tea bean paste and flavorful green tea whipped cream.
To celebrate the opening of the Tokyo Station store, a full-size “Northman Original Sticker” will be given to anyone who purchases an item. The quantity is limited, so the offer will end when all the stickers are gone.
