An opening ceremony was held earlier today, the first day of the event, to announce the opening of the event. Here is a report on the event.

Tokyo DisneySea launched “Tokyo DisneySea 25th Anniversary ‘Sparkling Jubilee'” on April 15 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the opening of the park. The event will run until March 31, 2027.

The 25th anniversary event was declared open! May the spirit of adventure and imagination continue to shine in your hearts,” said Chairman Takano.

Tokyo DisneySea opened in September 2001 as the world’s first ocean-themed Disney Park, and although it was raining on September 4, 2001, the legend has it that the rain cleared up just in time for the park to be declared open. There are also many anecdotes about the weather during the 15th anniversary ceremony, including that it suddenly rained heavily before the ceremony began and then cleared up.

On the day of the 25th anniversary, the ceremony was held at Mediterranean Harbor, blessed with fine weather. Wataru Takahashi, President and COO of Oriental Land, greeted the guests on a special stage.

Since its opening, the park has been a place of adventure, romance, discovery, and fun, and it continues to deliver the excitement that only this place can offer,” he said, adding that the new Fantasy Spring continues to expand the park’s appeal. He thanked guests, cast members, and everyone involved for their support.

I would like to share the joy of this festive occasion with everyone who cares about Tokyo Disney Resort. Let’s celebrate the 25th anniversary in a big way by turning the entire park into “Jubilee Blue”! He also called out to the audience.

Also speaking at the event was Clark Jones, Managing Director, Walt Disney Attractions/Walt Disney Imagineering.

Tokyo DisneySea is inspired by the beloved myths and legends of the sea. For 25 years, Tokyo DisneySea has been a place where guests and families from all over Japan and the world have had the opportunity to experience the most precious moments in their lives. As we move forward into the next phase of our history, we would like to pay tribute to the many memories and stories that have been spun and will continue to be spun from generation to generation,” he said, congratulating the park on its 25th anniversary.

In the latter half of the ceremony, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse took the stage in new costumes based on the 25th anniversary theme color “Jubilee Blue! Yumiko Takano, Chairman and CEO of Oriental Land Co.

Tokyo DisneySea is a one-of-a-kind, original park created jointly by Oriental Land and Disney to provide the people of Japan with never-before-experienced excitement. We have entrusted our eight theme ports with attractions that are different from those of Tokyo Disneyland, and we hope that the spirit of adventure and imagination will continue to shine brightly in your hearts. The 25th anniversary theme song “Come Join the Jubilee” echoed through the harbor, followed by the launch of pyro to celebrate the opening of the event! The event was a grand start to the anniversary year, which will continue for about a year.

After the opening of the show, Disney friends, dancers, and cast members took the stage.
