Shimapo Currency” to be sold from May 14 for use in travel to Tokyo’s 11 islands, with a premium gift certificate for a 3,000 yen subsidy.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Tokyo Convention and Visitors Bureau will sell “Shimapo Currency,” a premium-priced lodging travel gift certificate, from May 14 to March 31, 2027. The first phase of sales will begin at 12:00 pm on May 14.

Aimed at attracting travelers to Tokyo’s island areas (11 islands: Oshima, Toshima, Niijima, Shikinejima, Kozushima, Miyakejima, Mikurajima, Hachijojima, Aogashima, Chichijima, and Hahajima), Shimapo currency worth 10,000 yen per set will be sold for 7,000 yen, which can be used at over 570 participating stores.

The 3,000 yen can be used at accommodations, and the 7,000 yen can be used at sightseeing, restaurants, souvenir stores, activities, etc., to save on travel in the Tokyo Islands. The validity period is six months from the date of purchase. A total of 120,000 sets (80,000 sets in the first phase) are scheduled to be sold this year, and the program will end when all the sets are sold out.

In FY2026, sales and provision will be changed to “e-Shimapo” smartphone application. Membership registration and identification authentication with a my number card, driver’s license, etc. are required for purchase. Prior to the first phase of sales, the application download will begin at 12:00 pm on May 11.

Through the app, visitors can participate in a digital stamp rally around the island, and enjoy commemorative gifts and raffles that are awarded according to the points collected.
