Japan’s first 8K “Eva” attraction, experienced in Huis Ten Bosch. Do you get motion sickness? A thorough report on the ride process (some spoilers) “Evangelion the Ride

Posted on April 28, 2026 by Editor in Chief

Guest is a temporary employee of the Sasebo branch of the special agency “NERV” (NERV), and is suddenly assigned to a battery transportation mission. However, during the mission, an apostle suddenly appears in front of them and they are caught in the middle of a fierce battle. How will the fate of Huis Ten Bosch and its guests be ……?

A flying theater-type attraction that immerses visitors in the world of the “Evangelion” series, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary. The first Evangelion lifts off in the streets of Europe! The story is set in the “Interception Fortress City of Huis Ten Bosch,” a fortress that protects mankind from the mysterious giant life form “Apostles,” and features a completely original storyline with newly recorded voices.

Thorough description of equipment features. Is there a sense of levitation or thrill? Some caution for motion sickness.

The building in Attraction Town (the former site of Blue Anchor Gallery/Aircruise the Ride) will be equipped with a giant high-definition 8K LED dome screen with a 180-degree field of view for guests and ride motion using the latest technology.

The 8K video resolution is approximately 19 times higher than Full HD, and even the debris flying from the blast and the texture of the aircraft are realistically represented.

The seats move back and forth, left and right according to the scene, and there are also vibrations, wind, scent, and water spray (mist), so the impact of an explosion or the rapid descent of an aircraft can be felt with the whole body, which was quite realistic.

Seating is on three floors, with five rows of 12 passengers each, for a total of 60 passengers. Depending on the boarding position, the ride may be elevated, but when we experienced it on the first and second floors, we did not notice the presence of the upper and lower floors, and the height from the ground did not bother us unless we looked down too far.

However, while riding the boat, you will be completely floating on your feet, and the combination of images, sound, and other effects will give you the illusion of floating more than the actual motion. If you do not like the feeling of floating, you may find it less frightening if you temporarily gaze at the roof of your seat or the handrail.

In addition, compared to “Air Cruise the Ride,” which operated most recently with the same equipment, people who are prone to motion sickness should be more careful, as the swinging is more intense and there are a number of backward-facing flight scenes.

Huis Ten Bosch is the first Evangelion attraction in Japan where visitors can experience 8K images and smells.

Note: Seatbelts must be worn during the ride, and easily removable shoes must be removed after seating (just before the ride begins). 4 years old and under and under 100 cm tall are not allowed to experience the ride.

As for the water spray, the angle and amount (mist form) are designed so that the face does not get wet, so people who wear glasses/sunglasses or are concerned about makeup removal should not worry.
