Tokyo Disney Resort announced that it will end the sale of magnetic tickets on May 21. After that, all tickets will be unified into 2D codes.
Starting in July 2025, the company is promoting boarding by 2D code, allowing users to board smoothly without having to insert their tickets into an automatic ticket checker. The elimination of the conventional need to separate and dispose of the magnetic layer will reduce environmental impact and contribute to the realization of a sustainable society. In addition, users will be able to continue to use their traffic system IC cards, which can be used interchangeably throughout the country.
The replacement was scheduled to be implemented in July 2026 according to the announcement made last April, but will be brought forward due to preparations.
