Nisshinkan Manza Onsen Nisshinkan (2401 Manza Onsen, Higanata, Azuma-gun, Tsumakoi-mura, Gunma Prefecture), located in Joshinetsu National Park at an elevation of 1,800 m, is now offering a standard plan with two meals per night; the regular price per person for a room for two persons starts at 13,750 yen.
This is a long-established hot spring in Manza Onsen, known as “the closest natural hot spring to the sky. The “Choujuno-yu” bathhouse is made of natural wood and features 100% free-flowing hot-spring water, while the “Gokuraku-no-yu” open-air bath with a view of the majestic mountains and stars. Guests can choose from seven types of rooms, including the “Morinotate Western-style room (twin bed),” which was renovated in December 2025.
Dinner is a buffet with about 40 dishes. For dessert, you can enjoy dorayaki, which you can make yourself, and Tsumagoi milk soft serve ice cream.
During the green season (spring through fall), the hotel offers an “early morning walk” (about one hour) every morning, guided by the hotel staff on the plateau, which is free of charge for hotel guests. After the walk, guests can enjoy a buffet breakfast of about 30 healthy dishes from the Japanese and Western menus.
For those who cannot access by car, a plan with pick-up and drop-off from Karuizawa Station, a stop on the Hokuriku Shinkansen Line, is also available.
