JR East Tohoku General Service (LiViT) will accept orders for a new product, Tohoku Shinkansen Trolley Line Chopstick Rests. The price is 48,500 yen for a set of four, and orders will be accepted at the “Tohoku MONO WEB SHOP” in JRE MALL Shopping from March 5, 10:00 to March 31, 23:59. Products will be shipped sequentially from May onward.
This chopstick rest is a remake of a trolley wire used on the Tohoku Shinkansen line between Furukawa and Sendai, and was developed as a second version of the “Tohoku Shinkansen Trolley Wire Open Knife” that was produced and sold with a local company, Sedan, in 2024 and proved to be a hit.
There are four types with different colors and textures: “bare,” “flame,” “dyed,” and “flame-dyed,” and a version with a set of four pieces of each color is also available. Each piece is approximately 5 cm long and weighs approximately 70 g.
The product arrives in a special paulownia wood box with an engraved original design of the E2, E3 Series 0, E5 and E6 cars that actually ran on the Tohoku Shinkansen Line between Furukawa and Sendai, and covered with E5 Series Shinkansen seat sheets.
