GENSEN HOLDINGS, operator of the Oedo Onsen Monogatari Group, announced on April 1 that it has acquired Matsunoi Matsunoi (551 Yubara, Minakami-cho, Tone-gun, Gunma Prefecture) as a new property in Mizukami Onsen, Gunma Prefecture, and has taken over management operations of the property.
The building will be renovated, and it is scheduled to open around August this summer as an inn in the “Oedo Onsen Monogatari Premium” series, a higher-ranked series that can be enjoyed by both families and adults on hot spring trips. This will be the second facility to open in Gunma Prefecture, following “Oedo Onsen Monogatari Premium Ikaho.
Matsunoi, which was taken over this time, is a large-scale accommodation facility consisting of five buildings (Zuisenro, Zuihouro, etc.) constructed between 1963 and 1978, boasting a site area of 35,000 m2 and a total floor area of 31,000 m2.
The Mizukami Onsen area is easily accessible in less than two hours from the Tokyo metropolitan area. In addition to the abundance of hot spring water and soft spring water quality that has been available since the Edo period, the area is dotted with spectacular scenic spots such as Tanigawa-dake Mountain and Suwa Gorge in the neighborhood.
From fresh greenery in spring to rafting in summer, autumn leaves in fall, skiing in winter and snow viewing baths, you can enjoy a stay combining natural activities and hot springs throughout the year.
The start date for reservations and the official opening date will be announced as soon as it is determined.
