Nankai Railway’s spin-off of its railroad business approved; business split to begin in April; former company to become holding company “NANKAI Co.

Nankai Electric Railway Co. announced that the split of its railroad business effective April 1 has been approved by the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and the Director-General of the Kinki District Transport Bureau.

The railroad business will be taken over by a new wholly owned and operated company, Nankai Electric Railway Company (currently Nankai Electric Railway Demerger Preparatory Company). The former company (currently Nankai Electric Railway Co., Ltd.) will change its name to “NANKAI Corporation” and conduct real estate business and group companies as an operating holding company.

By spinning off the railroad business and real estate business into specialized execution systems, the company intends to promote its business strategies with a sense of speed.
