Nankai Electric Railway, the parent company of Nankai Ferry, announced that it will withdraw from the ferry business at the end of March 2028.

Nankai Ferry operated the “Katsuragi” and “Ai” ferries between Wakayama and Tokushima in approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes. The decision to withdraw from the business was based on a comprehensive assessment of various factors, including recent changes in the business environment and rising operating costs.

Nankai Ferry commented, “We will continue to operate safely as before until the date of withdrawal,” but added, “We may accelerate the date of withdrawal in the event that there are obstacles to safe operation, such as aging vessels and facilities or the need to hire more employees. The company will announce the official date of the end of its operations in light of the current situation.
