Kansai Airport will begin operations tomorrow, April 1, for domestic flights at Kansai International Airport Terminal 2 (T2), which is undergoing renovation. This report introduces the public opening on the day before the opening.
T2 domestic terminal is currently operated as an LCC terminal exclusively for Peach Aviation (Peach). After renovation starting in August 2025, three 20-meter class smart lanes and 10 automatic baggage check-in machines will be installed. The boarding area has also been expanded by 20%.
Smart Lanes are security check lanes with the following features. The introduction of three Smart Lanes at T2 domestic flights has increased throughput from 1,000 passengers per hour to 1,400 passengers per hour.
