Hotel New Akao is a long-established hot spring resort that has been a symbol of Atami since its opening in 1973. Located on the quay of Nishikigaura, a scenic spot in Atami, the hotel features guest rooms with ocean views, a large infinity open-air bath, a buffet of Izu ingredients served in the luxurious and gorgeous main dining room reminiscent of a bubble, and Nigiwai Yokocho where you can enjoy retro games, candy, canned food bars, and other attractions. The hotel has a full range of contents. Although the hotel will regrettably close in November 2021 due to the aging of the building and the decrease in the number of customers after the Corona disaster, Iconia Hospitality (formerly Mystays Hotel Management) will take over the management of the hotel, keeping the hotel name and Showa-era retro atmosphere, and will strengthen the building foundation and renovate the entire building. The Horizon Wing building was opened in December 2022, and the Ocean Wing building was opened in July 2023, leading to the “revival” of the hotel. This large-scale renovation is the “second phase” and is positioned as an update to further enhance the value of the stay experience. The plan is to preserve the historic architecture and interior as much as possible, while updating the outdated interior and facilities to make the hotel more comfortable and enjoyable to stay in. The most noteworthy of the renovations include the remodeling of all 250 rooms in the Ocean Wing, the creation of the first outdoor restaurant in a dynamic location on the edge of the surf, and a new Thermae-style themed public bathhouse. Below is an introduction to the major renovations.

The dynamic “Terrace Restaurant” will open on June 1, 2012! The dynamic “Terrace Restaurant” opens on June 1. The new “Terrace Restaurant” is located just below the huge “Main Dining Nishiki” restaurant, where you can enjoy a sumptuous buffet, by the waves where the Nishikigaura quay towers before your eyes. It will be the hotel’s first outdoor restaurant, with a total of 20 table and sofa seats. In conjunction with this, Hotel New AKAO’s original craft gin “SEACLIFF NEW AKAO EDITION” was developed in collaboration with Atami’s craft gin distillery “SEACLIFF”. It is blended with Atami Habanori, orange, Shizuoka tea, lemon, and other ingredients to strengthen the local flavor not only in the buffet dishes, but also in the beverage menu.
