Suisei Corporation and Komatsu DMC will open “Ataka no Yado Oki” (35 Wa, Ataka-cho, Komatsu City, Ishikawa Prefecture), a Japanese Heritage Site and former Kitamae shipowner’s residence, in April. Prior to this, the company began accepting reservations for lodging.
Located 11 minutes by car from JR Komatsu Station, 10 minutes by bus (4 minutes walk from the bus stop), and 5 minutes by car from Komatsu Airport. The Okiya, a shipping agent that once flourished in Ataka, a port town in Komatsu City, Ishikawa Prefecture, where Kitamae-boats used to come and go, has been renovated into a three-room inn. The inn is operated by Rinascente.
The guest rooms are spacious, utilizing the strong framework of an old private house, and are 169m2 (capacity for 8 persons), 66m2 (capacity for 3 persons), and 109m2 (capacity for 4 persons), respectively. The building will also feature a gallery and a shared lounge that will convey the history of Ataka along with Kutani ceramics produced by Kinzangama Kiln.
