GREENxEXPO 2027″ Kanagawa Prefecture will also reuse the “O-roof Ring” in the Kanagawa Prefecture exhibition area. Image perspective unveiled.

The Kanagawa Prefectural Government has released a perspective image of the Kanagawa Prefecture exhibit area at GREENxEXPO 2027. Under the main theme of “Vibrant INOCHI,” Kanagawa Prefecture will reuse wood from the “O-roof Ring” at the Osaka Expo ’70 Kansai for flower beds and decks in outdoor gardens.

The Kanagawa exhibit area will be located on the north side of the west side area of the venue, about 300 meters from the entrance gate. It is adjacent to the main traffic line and easily accessible from the gate.

The site is approximately 5,000 m2 in total, consisting of an indoor facility of up to 700 m2 and an outdoor garden, and is designed to be integrated with the adjacent “Naka Event Hall” and to facilitate smooth flow of people. Both indoor and outdoor event spaces will be provided.

In addition to permanent and spot exhibits both indoors and outdoors, there will also be a stage exhibition of original musicals and other exhibits (to be staged in the central event hall) to communicate “Vibrant INOCHI” in an easy-to-understand manner to visitors.

In addition, in order to widely publicize the attractions of Kanagawa Prefecture, prefectural events planned and implemented by the prefecture and events open to the general public will be held daily in the event space.

The outdoor garden will be planted with flowers and greenery unique to each region of the prefecture, and a central flower bed will be planted with flowers grown by children in the prefecture themselves.

The indoor exhibition facility will be constructed of prefectural lumber in a grid pattern to express the soft curves of Kanagawa’s ocean, and the walls will have mirrored material at the foot of the walls to blend in with the greenery of the garden. The indoor exhibit will present the subthemes of “Realization of a Symbiotic Society,” “Creation of a Sustainable Society,” and “Improvement of ME-BYO” in an easy-to-understand manner, and short-term spot exhibitions by municipalities in the prefecture are also planned.

At GREEN x EXPO 2027, Kajima Corporation will construct a 60-meter-high wooden tower “KAJIMA TREE (tentative name)” using wood from the O-roof ring, and the City of Yokohama is also considering the reuse of the O-roof ring at its exhibitor facilities.
