Fujita Kanko Inc. conducted a large-scale renovation of the Hakone Kowakuen Mikawaya Ryokan (503, Kowakuya, Hakone-cho, Ashigarashita-gun, Kanagawa Prefecture).
Mikawaya Ryokan is a long-established hot spring inn that has been in business for 140 years and has been designated as a registered tangible cultural property. The renovations include the guest rooms, lounge (Mikawaya Cafe), and other facilities to “renew the accommodation space with modern comfort and safety,” according to the company. In addition, the “gegyo” and “unotsukashi” on the karahafu (gable) at the top of the front facade have been refinished and the carving has been maintained.
The hotel is offering a renewal commemorative stay plan, including a twin Japanese-style room in the main building for 26,400 yen per person (per room, double occupancy), including one night’s dinner and evening breakfast. Dinner includes “Lobster Thermidor” prepared by the chef, unlimited drinks at the hotel’s night lounge, and unlimited access to Yunessan. The plan is valid until March 19.
