Sanyo and Kyushu Shinkansen bullet train in-train beverage vending machines to cease operation at the end of March

Posted on February 19, 2026 by Editor in Chief

JR West and JR Kyushu will cease operation of in-train beverage vending machines on the Sanyo and Kyushu Shinkansen lines by the end of March.

The subject trains are the Shinkansen trains operating between Shin-Osaka and Kagoshima-Chuo with 8-car N700 Series trains, and work will be performed sequentially from February 19 onward in conjunction with the end of operations.

In recent years, station stores have been offering a full line of beverage products, and more and more passengers are bringing their own beverages into the train, so the decision was made to terminate the in-train beverage vending machines, which have seen a decline in usage.
