JR East to Launch Shinkansen Reservation Service “JRE GO” in Autumn. Reservations can be made in as little as one minute without getting lost” and will be integrated with “Ekinet” in the future.

Posted on February 19, 2026 by Editor in Chief

East Japan Railway Company (JR East) announced that it will launch a new Shinkansen reservation service, JRE GO, around the fall of 2026.

JRE GO will replace the current “Ekinet” service, which took a long time to register as a member and complete reservations, and many have called for improvements.

At the time of service launch, the service will only be available between Shinkansen stations in Tohoku, Akita, Yamagata, Joetsu, and Hokuriku (Tokyo to Joetsu Myoko), and reservations can be made for nonreserved seats, reserved seats, TRAIN DESK, Green Car and Grand Class seats. The Shinkansen e-Ticket service will be offered by linking a transportation system IC card, mobile Suica, etc. to the Shinkansen train. As with Ekinet’s Shinkansen e-Ticket, there is no discount for nonreserved seats and a 200 yen discount for reserved seats, and no Tokudari value is offered. Payment must be made by credit card.

The JRE GO advance trial service is scheduled to start on April 20, and prior entry is required to use the service. Details will be announced on the official JR East website and official SNS in April.

JRE GO plans to continuously expand its services, aiming to handle ticketless limited express tickets for conventional lines and provide multilingual support by the end of FY2027. While “Ekinetto” will continue to be a basic service of JR East, the company aims to integrate it with JRE GO in the future.
