Marriott International has signed an agreement with MKK to open Moxy Matsumoto in Matsumoto, Nagano Prefecture. This will be the first “Moxy” brand entry in Nagano Prefecture, and is expected to open by the end of FY2027.
Moxy Matsumoto will be renovated in the former Inoue Department Store building, a well-known landmark in front of Matsumoto Station. A total of 222 guest rooms are planned. Moxy, Marriott’s lifestyle brand, will feature a playful design and stylish common spaces, offering a new stay experience for both domestic and international travelers.
The iconic “Bar Moxy” is the check-in area, where guests can check in upon arrival while enjoying cocktails at the bar counter. The hotel will offer 24-hour “Grab-and-Go” food and beverage service, a library with high-speed Wi-Fi, a lounge, and other social spaces that will provide a place for guests to interact with each other and the community.
Fukashi, Matsumoto City, where the new building will be constructed, is known for its historical townscape, including the national treasure Matsumoto Castle, and as a gateway to the Northern Alps, such as Kamikochi and Utsukushi-ga-hara Plateau. The new building will respect the history of the area while adding a modern essence to create a new bustling atmosphere in the area in front of Matsumoto Station.
