Hankyu Ferry, a member of the SHK Line Group, will resume full operation of the ferry “Izumi” on February 19, starting with departures from Shin Moji Port, after a long absence due to engine failure. Reservations will be accepted by phone and on the official website at 8:00 a.m. on February 18.
In addition, a campaign to commemorate the ship’s return is underway, offering an originally designed “Senshu Towel” as a gift to anyone who boards the Izumi and occupies a deluxe or larger private room. The towel is a brand originating from the Japanese towel industry, made in the Senshu area of Osaka, a place associated with the ship’s name, and is characterized by its excellent water absorbency due to the unique after-bleaching process. The fabric is decorated with the red logo of Hankyu Ferry and a seagull.
Izumi, which operates the Shin-Monji (Kitakyushu) – Izumiotsu (Osaka) route, has been out of service for an extended period of time since December 20, 2024 due to engine failure caused by damage to the port side reduction gear. Now that the parts replacement has been completed and a system for safe transportation is in place, the full resumption of service is underway.
