Emergency relief supplies provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) were handed over to the Federated States of Micronesia in response to the damage caused by an oil leak in the country.
The emergency relief supplies for the Federated States of Micronesia arrived in the State of Chuuk on February 7, and on February 11, a ceremony was held in Weno, Micronesia, attended by Mr. Roger Mori, Advisor to the Governor of the State of Chuuk, representing the State of Micronesia, and Mr. Shigeki Hamano, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of Japan in Micronesia, and Mr. Ken Watanabe, JICA Micronesia The ceremony was attended by Mr. Shigeru Hamano, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of Japan in Micronesia, and Mr. Ken Watanabe, Director, JICA Micronesia Branch Office, from Japan.
At the handover ceremony, Advisor Mori expressed his deep appreciation for the friendship and cooperation with Japan, and Deputy Director Hamano stated that the company must be prepared for any future oil leaks.
The aid supplies provided this time will be utilized by the government of the country.
