Hankyu Corporation will begin renovation work at Osaka Umeda Station in stages from January 2026, focusing on the third-floor concourse and platforms.

In order to improve station facilities and create a spacious concourse space, the train stop position on each line will be moved approximately 14 meters to the Juso Station side (one car will be approximately 19 meters). The train stop locations are scheduled to be changed around January 2026 for the Kobe Line, spring 2026 for the Takarazuka Line, and fall 2026 for the Kyoto Line.

After all stops have been moved, the station facilities layout, including the location of the ticket gate on the third floor and the “Goanen Counter,” will be revised sequentially, and multi-functional toilets, nursing rooms, and calming down spaces (places to block out outside sounds and glances to help calm the passengers) will be expanded.

In addition, from around 2031, all platforms at Osaka Umeda Station will be equipped with movable platform fences. In addition, the platform floor will be improved to reduce the gap between the platform and the cars.

Construction of the Chayamachi Exit ticket gate will also begin in the spring of 2026, and an elevator will be installed as well as a barrier-free route.

Hankyu Hanshin Holdings has announced its “Umeda Vision,” a concept that aims to enhance the value of the Umeda area in Osaka by 2022, and this renovation work is based on the “Future Ideal Image of Osaka Umeda Station” formulated to realize the Umeda Vision. Specific details are as follows.

1. “Comfort for All Guests” Inclusive Space

2. “Connecting Stations, Expanding Towns” Realization of a seamless travel environment

3. “Unique Scenery, Unique Experience” Legacy and Evolution

Furthermore, as one of the three major projects of the Umeda Vision, the “Shibata 1-chome Project” is underway to transform Osaka Umeda Station, the terminal station of the Hankyu Railway, into a multi-functional center. The Osaka Shin Hankyu Hotel and Hankyu Terminal Building are scheduled to be rebuilt, and Hankyu Sanbangai is scheduled to be completely renovated.
