On November 29, Ikaros Shuppan released “THE PILOT 2026,” an A4-size, 128-page mook for aspiring passenger aircraft pilots, priced at 2,200 yen.
While the “2030 problem” of mass retirement of airline pilots is fast approaching, global demand for aviation has been growing rapidly in recent years. Airline pilots are becoming more active in hiring, and the Self-Defense Forces have enacted a bill to improve the treatment of pilots. The hiring of pilots continues to expand.
This publication introduces the diverse routes to becoming a pilot, including aviation colleges, private universities, and private flight schools. In addition to interviews with recruiters and training sites at commercial airlines and public organizations (Japan Coast Guard and Self-Defense Forces), the book also focuses on recruiters and study sites at aviation and private universities that produce pilots.
