Funatetsu Bus and Blue Line Transportation to introduce touch payment, PayPay, and other cashless services in February. First in Yamaguchi Prefecture to replace bus cards.

Posted on February 13, 2026 by Editor in Chief

Funaki Railway and Blue Line Transportation will introduce credit card touch payment and electronic money/2D code payment on February 2, 2026. This is the first of its kind in Yamaguchi Prefecture.

Funaki Railway will be eligible for Funatetsu Bus’s Ube, Sanyo Onoda, and Mine City routes and community buses, and Blue Line Transportation will be eligible for all routes.

For flat fare routes, passengers pay at the terminal when they board the bus and get off without leaving the bus. For other routes, touch the terminal when getting on and off the bus if you want to pay by touch. For electronic money and code payment, passengers present the numbered ticket they took when boarding the bus and pay at the terminal after declaring the payment method.

Seven brands are supported for touch payments: Visa, Mastercard, JCB, American Express, Diners Club, Discover, and UnionPay. WAON, nanaco, Rakuten Pay, PayPay, d-pay, Melpay, au Pay, AEON Pay, Alipay, and Wechat Pay can be used for electronic money and code payments. For touch payment, the usage history can be checked on the “Q-move” website.

With the introduction of cashless payment, both Funaki Railway and Blue Line Transit will discontinue selling magnetic bus cards as of January 31. Bus cards can be used on board until April 30, after which they will be refunded without charge until April 2031.
