On February 12, JR Tokai and JR West announced that the mobile IC service for JR Tokai’s TOICA transportation IC card will soon begin supporting Apple Wallet.
This service is provided using the “ICOCA for Apple Pay” system operated by JR West, which allows commuter passes to be used in areas such as TOICA usage areas on the Apple Wallet of the iPhone or Apple Watch, as well as the purchase and recharging of commuter passes through Apple Pay. Apple Pay will also be able to purchase and recharge commuter passes through Apple Pay.
In addition, if you already have a TOICA commuter pass on a plastic card that you are using, you can transfer that information to Apple Wallet for use.
Detailed details of the service and the start date will be announced as soon as they are determined.
