Yokohama City announced on December 19 that it has decided on the urban planning and approved the land readjustment project for the redevelopment of the Fujigaoka Station area, which is being promoted by Tokyu Corporation and Showa Medical University. The two companies will proceed with the reconstruction of the hospital and shopping center in front of the station, the redevelopment of the park and plaza in front of the station, and the enhancement of a green pedestrian network.

In the Showa University of Medical Science Fujigaoka Hospital and Fujigaoka Station Park area, preparatory work will begin in FY2026, with the new hospital scheduled to open in FY2027-2034 and the new park to be completed in FY2035.

The Fujigaoka Ekimae Shopping Center is expected to undergo demolition and construction work starting in FY2026, with completion in FY2030 or later. The site area is approximately 4,100 m2 and the total floor area is approximately 15,000 m2. 10 floors above ground (approximately 31 m high) will be used for housing and stores.

Construction of the traffic plaza in front of Fujigaoka Station on the Tokyu Denentoshi Line is scheduled to begin in FY2030 or later and be completed in FY2031 or later. It will cover an area of approximately 2,700m2, and will include bus, cab, and general vehicle loading and unloading areas, as well as a shed.

The progress and details of each project will be posted on the website “Fujigaoka Ekimae Area Urban Development” as needed.
