JR Tokai and Ruiki have launched a crowdfunding campaign to produce the “Type 923 Doctor Yellow T4 Wireless Earphone,” accepting donations through the e-commerce site “JR Tokai MARKET” until February 28, 2026.
The earphones are based on the “Doctor Yellow,” Type 923 T4, which will be retired at the end of 2025. The case is shaped like a car body, and when the earphones are attached or detached, a front-light-like LED light illuminates. The case is yellow with an illustration of a pictogram of the Shinkansen bullet train in the style of Doctor Yellow.
The system voice at power on/off, pairing, etc. uses 923-type equipment sounds such as the whistle and brake release sound, as well as station announcements such as “You are not allowed to board. Please be careful. The announcements are recorded by station staff.
In addition to the earphones, a clear type strap that can hold the case and an acrylic key chain (5 types in total) that reproduces the signatures inside and outside the car are also available as return gifts.
Two types of donations are available: the “Doctor Yellow Plan” for 18,060 yen, which includes either an earphone strap or a key ring, and the “Doctor Yellow Complete Plan” for 19,800 yen, which includes all of the above acrylic key rings.
The target amount is 33 million yen, and if achieved, earphones and goods will be shipped as a return gift, but if not achieved, the full amount will be refunded. Note that these products are crowdfunding-only.
