On February 8, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Grant Agreement (G/A) with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) for the “Community-led Climate Change Adaptation Promotion Programme (UNOPS Partnership)” for the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. (Grant Agreement: G/A) was signed on the same day. The G/A was signed by Ms. Katie Ann Webley, UNOPS Afghanistan Office Representative, and Mr. Sota Tosaka, Director of JICA Afghanistan Office.

In this project, local communities will take the lead in developing flood, drought, and other disaster response facilities and training programs in areas vulnerable to climate change-induced disasters in order to strengthen their ability to cope with climate change-related disaster risks.
