Toyoko Inn Discontinues Plastic “Free Single Night Coupons”. Consolidation to point management to prevent resale and counterfeiting.

Posted on February 8, 2026 by Editor in Chief

Toyoko Inn will discontinue the plastic “free single night voucher (Toyoko Inn voucher)” issued as a membership benefit as of March 31, 2028.

As a benefit for members of the “Toyoko INN Club Card,” the company had been offering a free night for every 10 nights staying at a single room, and had been issuing plastic tickets to those who wished to use them. However, in recent years, due to an increase in resale cases and damage caused by the distribution of sophisticated counterfeit tickets, the company decided to discontinue the use of physical tickets.

As for the future schedule, the issuance of new free tickets will end on September 30, 2026. Free tickets on hand can be used until March 31, 2028, but cannot be used at all after the following April 1.

With the discontinuation of the program, the management of membership benefits will be integrated into “points” on the membership card or digital membership card. The “Stay 10 times and get 1 night free” benefit itself will continue and will not expire.

For members who have been using free tickets as gifts for their relatives and friends, a system will be introduced in June 2026 (tentative) for members to use their membership points to send a stay as a gift when making a reservation on the official website. Reservations using points will be accepted only at stores in Japan.

For members who already have free tickets, the procedure for returning them to member points began on December 16. The deadline for return is March 31, 2028, the same date of abolition. To apply for the refund, members need to bring the free ticket and the membership card from which it was issued to the front desk of the hotel (it takes about one month for the points to be reflected in their account).

Past “paper free night certificates” with no expiration date will also become invalid as of March 31, 2028, and these will not be returned to points or refunded.
