Hotel New Akao (1993-250 Atami, Atami, Shizuoka Prefecture) will offer a limited-time dinner “Spring Flavor: A Course to Taste the Season and Bounty of Shizuoka” at the Japanese restaurant Maifan starting March 6. The price is 15,000 yen.
In addition to the meal-only plan, reservations can also be made by phone or through the official website as part of the “Japanese Cuisine: Springtime in Shizuoka – A Course in the Season and Bounty of Shizuoka – All Rooms with Ocean View” package.
The course consists of nine dishes. It includes Shizuoka ingredients that are in season in spring, such as kosode sushi with haruko sea bream wrapped in cherry leaves from Matsuzaki-cho, Izu; chawanmushi and mijo made with sakura shrimps from Yui, which are only caught in Suruga Bay in Japan; and kakiage tenchazuke (deep-fried tempura with tempura and vegetables). The lineup also includes a plate of seared “Diamond Fuji Beef,” Shizuoka’s brand beef, combined with spring vegetables from Mishima Nishinoroku.
