On December 25, IKEA Japan launched the “Center Pickup (small item delivery only)” service at 105 Sagawa Express sales offices located in 11 prefectures. The fee is 800 yen (regular delivery of small items to home is 1,500 yen), and free for IKEA Family members with purchases of 5,000 yen or more.
In addition, a “Product Receiving Center (exclusively for large delivery sizes)” was opened in Edogawa-ku, Tokyo on December 18 with the cooperation of SG Moving, and the Center Receiving service is now available. The fee is from 3,900 yen, and is also free for IKEA Family members with purchases of 5,000 yen or more.
In the service, IKEA delivers the products to a nearby pickup center or Sagawa Express office, and the buyer carries them from the pickup location to his or her home. This service enables flexible pick-up methods while keeping delivery costs down. With the opening of this new service, the number of small pick-up locations in cooperation with Sagawa Express has increased to 723, and the number of large item pick-up locations to 67.
