Grant Aid Agreement Signed for Kyrgyzstan: Contribution to Improvement of Quality of Health Care Services through Medical Equipment Improvement at the Southern Core Medical Hospital | News & PR

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Grant Agreement (G/A) with the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic on December 12 in Bishkek, the capital city of the Kyrgyz Republic, for the “Medical Equipment Development Project for the Core Hospital in the Southern Region”. The G/A was signed by Mr. Almaz Baketayev, Minister of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic, and Mr. Kotaro Nishigata, Director of JICA Kyrgyzstan Office.

This project will also contribute to the international deployment of Japanese technology by introducing advanced and reliable Japanese equipment.

Business Objectives

This project aims to strengthen the system for diagnosis and treatment of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) by installing medical equipment for diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases and cancer at the core hospital in Osh, which will serve as a base for providing public medical services covering the three southern provinces of Kyrgyzstan (Osh, Jalalabad, and Batken). The project aims to contribute to the improvement of social services in the country by enhancing the quality of healthcare services.

Business

(a) Description of facilities and equipment:

[Integrated Hospital].

CT imaging equipment, angiography equipment, echocardiography equipment, endoscopes, operating microscopes, C-arms, etc.

Oncology Center]

General radiography equipment, MRI, endoscopy, gynecological ultrasound equipment, mammography equipment, etc.

(b) Consulting services include: detailed design, bidding assistance, procurement supervision, and maintenance contract supervision.

Maximum Amount of Provision

1,801 million yen

Scheduled implementation period

60 months (delivery is expected to be completed in 24 months, including detailed design and bidding period, 1 year manufacturer’s warranty after delivery of equipment, and 2 years medical equipment maintenance contract)
