JICA President Akihiko Tanaka met with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Tokyo on December 19.
At the beginning of the meeting, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed his appreciation for JICA’s cooperation in priority areas such as health, energy, transportation, education, and industrial development, and his expectations for the future expansion of cooperation. He also shared the results of the significant increase in the percentage of women among JICA trainees from Uzbekistan since the last meeting.
In response, President Tanaka asked for the President’s support for the planned and steady progress of the project and thanked him for his commitment to gender equality.
Furthermore, the two parties exchanged views on the prospects and possibilities for cooperation in the areas of industrial development and investment, including new projects such as the “Livestock Production Promotion and Livestock Sanitation Enhancement Project” that they agreed to implement this time, as well as in the area of human resource development.
