On January 13 (local time), Henry & Partners released the 2026 Henry Passport Index, which ranks passports from around the world.

Based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), passports from 199 countries/regions are ranked according to the number of destinations that can be entered visa-free. Passports that allow visa-free travel to a greater number of destinations are rated as “powerful.

Singapore continued in first place in 2025, with visa-free entry to 192 destinations (same as below), followed by Japan and South Korea, both with 188 destinations, although the number of countries and regions covered by visa-free entry decreased from last year.

In third place are Denmark, Luxembourg, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland (186 destinations); the fourth (185 destinations) and fifth (184 destinations) are also European countries across the board, while the UAE is also in fifth place, up 37 places from 2024.

In addition, the United Kingdom ranked seventh (182 destinations) and the United States ranked tenth (179 destinations), with both countries experiencing the largest year-to-year decrease in the number of countries and regions covered. The lowest ranked destination was Afghanistan, which continued from the previous year, with only 24 destinations covered.
