The Asakusa Area Social Experiment Executive Committee will implement traffic restrictions on Kaminarimon-dori on January 17, 18, 29, and 30. This is a social experiment to expand pedestrian space and verify the impact on automobile traffic and stores.
On the day of the event, the 150-meter stretch between the Kaminarimon intersection and Azumabashi intersection will be closed to vehicular traffic from 11:00 to 16:00. The road closure will begin at 3:00 p.m., and will be lifted as soon as the closure is completed.
Toei buses will change the mode of operation on routes that run in the restricted area. From around 10:00 to 16:00 on the restricted day, routes that start and end at bus stops in the area will be shortened, and routes connecting east and west, such as Kami 23 and Kusa 39, will be rerouted to Asakusa-dori.
