NEXCO West Japan has announced that it may implement precautionary road closures from January 10 to 12 due to heavy snowfall predicted in mountainous areas.
As of 12:00 p.m. on January 9, the following roads are listed as being closed: the Hanwa Expressway (E42) between the Mihara Kita IC and Hannan IC, the Sakai-Senboku Expressway (E90) and the Kanku Expressway (E71) in the Kinki region. The Yonago Expressway (E73) in the Chugoku region and the Tokushima Expressway (E32) in the Shikoku region are also listed as possible road closures.
The company urges people to wear winter tires or tire chains on snowy and icy roads and to refrain from going out when heavy snowfall is expected. The latest information is available on the “iHighway” website.
