Hoshino Resort has begun accepting reservations for lodging at Hoshinoya Nara Jail (18 Hannwakuji-cho, Nara City, Nara Prefecture), which will open on June 25.

A luxury hotel in the former Nara Prison, an important cultural asset of Japan, accessible in 10 minutes from JR Nara Station by car and 6 minutes from Kintetsu Nara Station by car. Room rates start at 147,000 yen per room per night.

A total of 48 guest rooms have been created by connecting the former dormitories to create a peaceful and private space. The 48 rooms are divided into separate sleeping, living, dining, and other spaces, making it possible for guests to use the rooms according to their needs. The 10-cell type is the most luxurious of all, with 10 of the smallest cells connected to each other. The design blends a century-old hand-plastered brick wall with thick steel columns and wood paneling.

In a separate dining room, guests can enjoy “Japanese French cuisine” that has evolved from traditional Western techniques with a Japanese sensibility. In addition, the hotel is planning to offer a variety of activities and spaces that will allow guests to enjoy an extraordinary experience.

In addition to Hoshinoya Nara Prison, the “Nara Prison Museum by Hoshino Resort” will be developed on the grounds of the former Nara Prison, where visitors can learn about the history and facilities of the former Nara Prison. This museum is open for one-day use and is scheduled to open on April 27.
