NEXCO Central Japan’s Nagoya Branch will begin construction in early February to convert the uphill section of the Tomei Expressway (E1) between Nisshin JCT and Tomei Miyoshi IC to three lanes.
Approximately 70,000 vehicles pass through this section of road each day, causing chronic traffic congestion, which was 435 times per year in 2025, but is expected to decrease significantly with the three-lane extension.
Since the three lanes will be widened on the shoulder side, nighttime lane restrictions will be in place during construction. During the fixed restrictions, the shoulders will be narrowed, so drivers are advised to drive with caution.
