Saitama Prefecture announced that the road closure on General Route 140 (in the Otaki area of Chichibu City) will be lifted at 10:00 a.m. on January 27.
Restrictions on National Route 140 extend approximately 1.2 km from near the torii of Mimine Shrine to near the entrance of Otaki Kaminiwa Koryu Hiroba due to restoration work for fallen rocks that occurred in the Otaki area in July and September of 2025. The restriction was originally set until the end of February 2026, but will be lifted ahead of schedule upon completion of the restoration work.
With this change, the Otaki Tunnel, which has been in provisional use as a detour route, will no longer be open to traffic.
