Ryohin Keikaku held a MUJI 2026 Spring/Summer new product exhibition. This time, we will introduce some of the featured food products with a focus on rice menus that allow you to enjoy the feeling of traveling.
MUJI’s signature curry will be launched in mid-April (planned) with the new “Learn from the Local: Sri Lanka” series. Although MUJI has offered many curries from Japan, Thailand, India, and other countries, Sri Lanka is the first to be included in the series.
The lineup consists of three types: 1 spicy “Creamy Curry with Eggs and Vegetables,” 4 spicy “Spicy Curry with Pork and Tamarind,” and 5 spicy “Chicken Curry with Coconut and Green Chili Peppers. Each of these curries weighs 180 grams per serving and is priced at 350 yen.
Tamarind,” which is not so familiar in Japan, is a fruit of the legume family. MUJI’s curries are available in seven levels of spiciness, from 0 to 6, and the spicy curry and chicken curry are made to be quite authentic.
This time, I actually tried the Creamy Curry with Eggs and Vegetables. There seems to be a whole egg in each bag, and the overall flavor is mild and gentle, with a hint of coconut. The spiciness is kept low and bonito flakes are used to maximize the umami flavor, making it easy for even children to enjoy.
The series for rice dishes is “Chilled Chazuke: Nagano no Yatara” (2 servings, 390 yen). According to the person in charge, the most popular summer chazuke is “Miyazaki’s cold soup,” but when looking for a local dish that can be eaten quickly even when one has no appetite, he found “Nagano no yatara.
Upon tasting the actual dish, I found it to be accented with the tangy spiciness of green chili peppers, and I personally have a feeling that it will become a new summer staple.
Other noteworthy products will be available from early to mid-April, including “Original Blend Coffee Milk Pudding” (200 ml, 250 yen), which has a firm texture, and “Pasta Sauce with Handpicked Basil” (28 g x 2 servings, 290 yen), which has a rich aroma and could be applied to various dishes.
