PARCO announced on January 29 that it plans to close Fukuoka PARCO (2-11-1 Tenjin, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture) at the end of February 2027.
Fukuoka PARCO opened in March 2010 in the Tenjin area of central Fukuoka. As the building it owns is aging, the company’s board of directors decided to terminate operations after carefully considering the expected investment burden and the progress of the development plan for the Tenjin 2-chome South Block East Area in front of the station from a medium- to long-term perspective. The store has a floor area of approximately 42,000m2.
In cooperation with neighboring businesses, PARCO will introduce new cultural and information dissemination functions such as live houses, galleries, and museums in the East and West Wards in front of the Tenjin 2-chome South Block Station, utilizing PARCO’s content. In addition, they will also consider the development of a park where people can enjoy greenery and relaxation, and greening of the building integrated with the park.
In addition, “We will cooperate with the development plan for the future of the shopping district in the West District, which inherits the history of Shintenmachi (shopping street passageway, fairy tale chimes, etc.) and jointly develop the “fairy tale street underground passageway” with the West District, which is highly public and contributes to improving pedestrian convenience and circulation, in order to further promote the Tenjin Big Bang and the development of Fukuoka City,” commented Mr. Kubo. We will cooperate with the further promotion of Tenjin Big Bang and the development of Fukuoka City.
