Ryobi Holdings will open a hotel, restaurant, and hot spring on Shodoshima Island, Kagawa Prefecture, in the summer of 2026, called “Shimadomari/Shima Meishi Shimayu” (5165-216 Kou, Dojo-cho, Shodo-gun, Kagawa Prefecture). It will be operated by a newly established subsidiary of Kokusai Ryobi Ferry, and hotel reservations are scheduled to begin around April.

Located just a minute’s walk from the port of Tonosho, the gateway to Shodoshima. The renovation of the “Orchid Hotel,” which has been a favorite of the locals for over 40 years, was an opportunity to transform it into a complex facility that provides an opportunity for people to interact with the island through the “Shimadomari” hotel, “Shima-Meshi” restaurant, and “Shima-Yu” hot spring.

Aiming to be open to islanders and users of other facilities on the island, the island meal and hot spring are available for use by non-guests, and the exterior is a park that can be used for waiting for boats, morning walks, and as a venue for events. The exterior and interior were designed by Tsune Nagasaka to blend in with the island while adding a new story.

Shimadomari offers nine different room types in a range of sizes to accommodate different tastes and preferences, and with different designs that allow travelers to mingle with each other. The hotel has a total of 31 rooms, ranging in size from 21 to 90m2.

Shimamanai is a restaurant serving seasonal delicacies from Shodoshima and other parts of the Seto Inland Sea. The chefs bring out the flavor of the ingredients as they are landed or grilled in pristine conditions, allowing you to enjoy fishermen’s rice unique to the island.

Shimayu is a hot spring spa whose source is “Shio-no-yu,” the first hot spring that gushed out on Shodoshima. Equipped with a sauna and water bath, it is a place where islanders and visitors can interact with each other. Shio-no-yu is rich in sodium and magnesium, which warms and tones the skin, and has been popular among islanders for many years because of the quality of the water.
