Keio Electric Railway Deploys “Fire Blankets” at All Stations and on All Trains. Reinforcement of fire prevention measures for mobile batteries, etc.

Posted on January 28, 2026 by Editor in Chief

Keio Electric Railway announced that “Fire Blankets” will be deployed at all stations and on all trains of the Keio and Inokashira Lines in order to provide a quick initial response and mitigate damage in the event of a fire. The deployment is scheduled for January 31.

Fire blankets are designed to prevent the spread of fire by covering flames in the event of a fire. The company has installed fire extinguishers at all stations and in all trains in the past, but in response to the increased risk of fires caused by lithium-ion batteries (mobile batteries, etc.) in recent years, the company decided to introduce the new fire blanket as a further safety measure.

Deployed in all station offices and crew cabins of all trains on the Keio and Inokashira lines.

In the event of a fire, employees first respond with fire extinguishers, and if there is a risk of the fire spreading to the surrounding area, the fire blanket is spread to cover the ignited object. At the same time, the evacuation and guidance of passengers will be carried out promptly.

If you discover a fire in a station or on a train, you are urged to immediately notify station staff, crew, or security personnel in the vicinity.
