JR Tokai, JR West and JR Kyushu will revise the Tokaido, Sanyo and Kyushu Shinkansen products sold through “Express Reservation” and “Smart EX” between February and April.
The “EX Early Bird 1”, “EX Early Bird 7”, and “EX Early Bird 21”, which offer special discounts if purchased by a designated date, will expand the number of available sections.
The “EX Early-bird 7” package, which can be purchased up to 7 days in advance, will be available between Okayama Station and Hiroshima Station and between Kumamoto Station and Kagoshima Chuo Station, while the “EX Early-bird 21” package, which must be purchased 21 days in advance, will be available between Shin-Osaka and Shin-Kobe Stations and between Kumamoto Station and Kagoshima Chuo Station, starting February 20. The price between Okayama Station and Kagoshima-Chuo Station will be 20,500 yen for “EX Early Bird 7” and 15,400 yen for “EX Early Bird 21” between Shin-Osaka Station and Kumamoto Station.
Starting with the April 1 boarding (on sale from March 26), a setting between Toyohashi Station and Nagoya Station will be added to the “EX Early Bird Special 1” and will be available for 1,400 yen.
On the other hand, the price of some sections of “EX Early Ticket 1” will be revised for boarding on April 1. The “e-ticket,” which is a limited express ticket only, will cease to be available as of March 31.
In addition, the company revealed plans to offer a discount product for the disabled that combines train and limited express tickets in the fall of 2026 or later. The company also plans to link with MyNaportal so that discount ticket purchases can be completed on the website.
