NEXCO East Japan, NEXCO Central Japan, NEXCO West Japan, Metropolitan Expressway, Hanshin Expressway, and JB Honsha Expressway have announced traffic congestion forecasts for the year-end and New Year holidays (December 26 to January 4) in 2025-2026.
The three NEXCO companies and the JB Honshi Expressway expect traffic congestion to be concentrated on January 2 and 3, both up and down. In addition, the Metropolitan Expressway and the Hanshin Expressway will be particularly congested on December 26. The longest traffic jams are expected to be 35 km on the Tohoku Expressway and the Shin-Danmaru Expressway, and 30 km on the Higashi-Meihan to Ise Expressway.
In addition to calling for the avoidance of peak days and times, the companies have also excluded December 26-January 4 from the holiday discounts in order to prevent traffic congestion from intensifying.
Before departure or when using the vehicle, please check the latest road traffic information, pay attention to speed and distance between vehicles when driving, and try to limit lane changes.
